ASSEMBLY PROGRAM:

"
Look out!  In MASKS & MIME, teachers or students may find themselves on a funny side of the footlights, looking out from behind a mask -- or through a traffic pylon or a mixing bowl.  So sue me . . . !"

Masks & Mime investigates the fabulously varied shapes and moods of which we humans are capable.  Through a series of mutable layered masks we explore "body language," the mysterious relation between shapes and moods, and how we understand all that at a glance!  A demonstration of illusionary mime techniques, audience exercises (both raucous and exquisitely quiet) and theatrical clowning, bring home the lesson of communication through posture and gesture.

GRADE RANGE: Pre-K through Post-grad!*
ASSEMBLY LENGTH: 40 minutes

*- Because it is so visual, audiences take this performance at their own level.  This show has been "road-tested" on audiences from New York City to Los Angeles, from Halifax to Phoenix, with run-outs to Paris (Place Pompidou) and Washington, DC (The National Theater.)
